Parental Alienation and Factitious Disorder by Proxy Beyond DSM-5: Interrelated Multidimensional Diagnoses by Michael R. Bütz, Ph.D. available through Routledge Publishing.
For over forty years, Munchhausen's Syndrome by Proxy, Factitious Disorder by Proxy and Parental Alienation have been debated in courtrooms, healthcare facilities and in the literature.
The development of the term Interrelated Multidimensional Diagnoses was intended to clarify how to measure and study these pathological dynamics that adversely impact children and their families.
With this multidimensional approach to these pathological dynamics, the focus has been to supply a basis for clear and fair intervention that ensures the child's best interests as well as their health and welfare.

Basic and Advanced Workshops on Parental Alienation
Dr. Michael Bütz has created a new way, a new concept, for identifying and understanding the challenging phenomena of Parental Alienation. In his recent book with Routledge Publishers, Parental Alienation and Factitious Disorder by Proxy Beyond DSM-5: Interrelated Multidimensional Disorders; he has advanced a new diagnostic category for addressing these complex pathological phenomena that integrates individual characteristics and symptoms, family and other system dynamics under one diagnosis – Interrelated Multidimensional Diagnoses. Dr. Bütz has designed a set of workshops that examines why current diagnostic categories within the DSM-5 have proven inadequate and provides the basic framework for this new diagnostic conceptualization. A conceptualization that has been designed to better capture the complexities of Parental Alienation.
The workshops will expand upon his recent original article with F. Barton Evans, Ph.D. in Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, and address a more encompassing perspective from which to view such challenging phenomena. This perspective will take into account the phenomena’s historical descriptions such as Alignment, Parental Alienation Syndrome, and Alienated Children; describe the diagnostic concept of Interrelated Multidimensional Diagnoses; and then specifically address Parental Alienation in detail. Dr. Bütz will also expound on a new approach to the phenomena, how to identify it, and describe his proposal for a new two-stage diagnostic process.
